Luis Navarro, M.D., FACS, FACPh, is the Founder and Medical Director of The Vein Treatment Center, established in 1982. Dr. Navarro is a General Surgeon, originally Board Certified in General Surgery in 1976; he received board certification in Phlebology in 2009 when the treatment of veins officially became an AMA recognized specialty. He completed his residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, where he was Chief Surgical Resident and a senior Clinical Instructor of Surgery at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Dr. Navarro graduated cum laude from the University Of Barcelona Medical School in his native Spain. He is affiliated with Beth Israel Medical Center and Lenox Hill Hospital. Dr. Navarro is a Diplomate of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American College of Phlebology, International Union of Phlebology, Canadian Society of Phlebology, American Society of Laser Medicine, and numerous other venous-related societies.
Dr. Navarro received a U.S. patent for his invention and development of an Endovenous Laser Ablation (Endolaser, EVLT, EVLA), a minimally invasive treatment for large varicose veins. This method has revolutionized the field of vein treatment (phlebology) and is now practiced worldwide.
O. Al-Misky, M.D., received her Medical Degree from Temple Medical School in Philadelphia, PA and was Chief Resident at Hamot Hospital in Erie, PA. Dr. Al-Misky is Board Certified in Family Medicine and Phlebology. She received her specialized training in the treatment of venous disorders under Dr. Navarro at The Vein Treatment Center. Dr. Al-Misky is a member of the American College of Phlebology and has been with The Vein Treatment Center for over 10 years.
Claudia Rios, M.D., received her medical degree from Universidad Libre De Cali, in her native Colombia. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Jacobi Medical Center – Albert Einstein School of Medicine. She is Board Certified in Internal Medicine. She is a member of the American College of Phlebology. Dr. Rios received specialized training in the treatment of venous disorders under Dr. Navarro at the Vein Treatment Center.
Kay Bernardo, RPA-C, received her Physician’s Assistant degree from Touro College School of Health Sciences in New York. Kay is a Board Certified Physicians Assistant and a member of the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, as well as the American College of Phlebology. She received specialized training in the treatment of venous disorders under Dr. Navarro at the Vein Treatment Center.
Xiao Jie Wang, PA-C., is a Board Certified Physician Assistant at the VTC. She also received her Medical Degree from the 4th Military Medical University in China and was an ophthalmic surgeon in her native country. Dr. Wang is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the American College of Phlebology. She received specialized training in the treatment of venous disorders under Dr. Navarro.
